MOTHER AND BABY MASSAGE

Pre and Post Natal Massage

Pregnancy is one of the most important times in a woman’s life. Maintaining optimum health through regular massage, good nutrition and exercise will ensure a healthy and enjoyable pregnancy and a healthy baby.

Pregnancy and post natal massage is different to regular massage because it is modified week to week according to the postural and anatomical stresses that take place within the body. Through a careful consultation, Emma can address any problems that may arise and remedy them.

Pregnancy massage is applied in the side lying position with the support of a special pregnancy pillow which allows the mother to be comfortable with good support for the pelvis and abdomen.

Common conditions that can be relieved with pregnancy massage include:

- Back and neck pain

- Insomnia

- Headaches

- Oedema

- Fatigue

- Sciatica

- Stress and anxiety

Benefits of Pre and Post Natal Massage
 - Relaxes the “whole” body: mentally, physically and emotionally

- Addresses postural imbalances and changes due to the growing baby

- Increases circulation to all parts of the body to reduce muscular tension and pain

- Reduces stress, tension and anxiety

- Helps rejuvenate and re-align the body after childbirth

Baby Massage

Emma is a trained as an Infant Massage Instructor with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM). The Association was founded in 1978 by Vimula McClure after her work in orphanages in India, where she observed the love and wealth of these children due to the frequent massage that took place in their culture. After succumbing to malaria and being massaged back to health by the village women, she realised the significance of loving touch in our lives as a fundamental human need.

The purpose of the IAIM is to ”promote nurturing touch and communication through training, education and research so that parents and caregivers are loved, valued and respected throughout the world community.”

We massage our babies to learn about their growing bodies, help them to flourish, communicate our love and develop their self esteem.
